The deal was announced July 14 after the deal was completed July 11. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Terry Snow, CEO of World Publications, said Sailing Co.'s annual revenues were around $10 million. Cruising World, which is published monthly, has a circulation just under 160,000, and the circulation for 10-times-a-year Sailing World is just under 57,000, according to Audit Bureau of Circulation. Through June, ad pages for Cruising World were 582.6, down 14.9%, according to the Publishers Information Bureau.
World Publications is based in Winter Park, Fla., but the company said editorial operations will continue to be based in Newport, R.I.
Mr. Snow said the deal would boost the annual revenues of his company's marine-related titles, which include Boating Life, Sport Fishing and Marlin, to around $30 million.
Last November, World announced that Boston-based private equity firm Boston Ventures Management had purchased an unspecified minority stake in the company that was earmarked for making acquisitions, a move World said positioned it to play more aggressively in deal markets.
