Pandora doesn't seem to suffer any illusions that its listeners like commercial interruptions. So, for at least one day, it is giving listeners a break.
To celebrate its 10th birthday the streaming music service will go ad-free on Sept. 9. Dubbed "Listener Love Day," the streaming music site will play "all music, all day."
"What is this day you ask? Simply put, it is our gift to you. It's a day of all music and zero ads as a thank you for listening and thumbing over the past decade," Pandora founder Tim Westergren said in a blog post.
According to Mr. Westergren, Pandora boasts 80 million listeners per month that add up to 74 billion hours of listening time. Over the past 10 years, he says Pandora has created more than 8 billion stations.
Pandora also created a "mixtape" featuring the 10 most "Thumbed Up" songs for each of the past 10 years.
