Conde Nast, Hachette Name VPs for Magazine Divisions

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Conde Nast Publications and Hachette Filipacchi filled voids in the executive ranks of two magazine divisions.

At Hachette, Carol A. Smith was named senior vice president of Elle Group. She replaces Carl Portale, 63, the group's senior vice president and publishing director who announced last week he was leaving the company.

Meanwhile, Conde Nast announced Nina Lawrence was named vice president and publisher of the national magazines within Conde Nast Publication's Bridal Division. The unit encompasses Bride's and Modern Bride, which, along with Modern Bride Connections regional magazines, was acquired last month from Primedia.

Ms. Lawrence was publisher of Bride's and had served as publisher of Modern Bride from 1996 to 1998. She will report to Peter King Hunsinger, who was named president of the new division earlier this month.
