Earnings for September Down 14%

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Radio revenue was down 8% in the third quarter, compared with the same period last year, with national ad dollars off 17% and local revenue down 4%, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau.

Ending the trend of diminishing losses that began in April, radio revenue suffered in September. Total September revenue was down 14%, in part due to the events of Sept. 11, compared with the 6% drop in August and the 4% drop in July, compared with the same months last year.

National and local ad dollars in September were down 23% and 12%, respectively, vs. September 2000.
