'ROSIE' NAMES NEW EDITOR IN CHIEF

'People' Magazine's Susan Toepfer Takes Over for Cathy Cavendar

By Published on .

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Susan Toepfer, the deputy managing editor at People magazine, was named the new editor in chief of Rosie magazine.

She replaces Cathy Cavender, who held the position since McCall's relaunched under the banner of TV talk show host Rosie O'Donnell. Ms. Cavender will be leaving the company.

For the last half of 2001, Rosie posted admirable newsstand circulation gains compared with McCall's numbers fromt he previous year.

But there have been internal concerns at Rosie publisher Gruner & Jahr over slipping newsstand sales in recent months, which are significantly off the 555,500 the title averaged for the last half of 2001. Ad pages through May were 383.8.

Rosie launched in 2001 with a May issue; the last issue of McCall's appeared that March.
