Effort: "Smart Garage" Tour

Agency: National Media Group, New York

Twist: Popular Science hopes to whet men's imaginations with plans to build a dream garage packed with futuristic gadgets, tools and high-tech entertainment. A model of the 950-square-foot garage goes on tour this fall, demonstrating a workshop with a wet bar and snack area, an Internet-equipped computer center, intercom, flat-screen TV, freezerator and sound system, along with innovative storage systems for tools, lawn and garden supplies.

Vital statistics: Presenting sponsors are Daimler-Chrysler's Dodge and Gladiator Garage Works. Other sponsors include Sears, Roebuck & Co.'s Craftsman, Homelite, John Deere, "Junkyard Wars" on The Learning Channel, Pioneer and Rustoleum. The tour kicks off in Dallas next month and will visit several cities over the coming year. The garage plans are free and can be ordered online (www.popsci.com).
