NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Steven DeLuca, associate publisher of Conde Nast Publications' Vanity Fair, has been named the new publisher of Wenner Media's Rolling Stone magazine.

He will start his new position Feb. 17, Wenner general manager Kent Brownridge said.

Mr. DeLuca replaces Rob Gregory, 45, who left last month to be group publisher at Dennis Publishing's flagship men's title Maxim. Mr. DeLuca previously worked with Vanity Fair's publisher, Lou Cona, at Time Inc.'s In Style.

In its quest for a new publisher, Wenner Media also reached out to Details' publisher William Wackermann, according to executives familiar with the matter, but ultimately those entreaties proved unsuccessful.

A spokeswoman for Fairchild Publications, which publishes Details, declined to comment. Mr. Brownridge would not comment on Mr. Wackermann either, but said Mr. DeLuca was "a terrific young Turk. That's what we're looking for."

Last year Wenner lured away Vanity Fair's ad director, William Schenck, to be associate publisher at Men's Journal.
