NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Following the auction Monday of the assets of The Industry Standard, The Standard.com, the last operation of the Internet commerce magazine, ceased publishing Tuesday.

In a letter to readers, Editor in Chief Jonathan Weber said, "As you are probably aware, Standard Media International [the Web site's parent] has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the last several weeks, and we had hoped to emerge from that process as a going concern under new ownership. But things did not turn out that way."
