Mr. Hunsinger, 44, replaces Mitchell Fox, 45, who will run Conde Nast parent company Advance Publications' newly acquired golf properties once that deal's expected finalization occurs April 2.
Mr. Hunsinger's title of chief marketing officer was not held by Mr. Fox.
Observers note that the move vaults Mr. Hunsinger -- who was Conde Nast's Publisher of the Year in 1998 and 1999, while at Architectural Digest and Vanity Fair -- entirely over the Conde Nast layer of senior vice presidents. No replacement for him has been named at Vanity Fair.
Additionally, Suzanne Grimes, 41, the publisher of Allure, added vice president to her title.
