|Turner's Jamie Kellner plans overhaul but says Larry King will stay.
Jamie Kellner, founder of the WB and the new chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, said TNT, TBS and CNN have solid program lineups but need image overhauls. He did not provide specifics in comments made at the annual media industry conference The Big Picture.
Regarding CNN, Mr. Kellner said: "The look hasn't changed in a long time. Generally, it's nice to refresh things every couple of years."
Not aiming for young audience
But he said changes at CNN would not be done in an effort to go after a younger demographic. He denied rumors that executives might try to ease out talk show host Larry King. "I love Larry," he said. "Larry will be on forever."
He said that with marketing all the Turner channels -- ranging from TNT to CNN to the Cartoon Network to now the WB -- need to focus on cross-promoting each other.
Mr. Kellner also denied that a music channel to compete with Viacom's MTV is imminent from AOL Time Warner, though he said it would be considered.
