At Hearst, Mr. Loughlin will oversee circulation, Web operations, finance, manufacturing, distribution strategy. He was also named senior vice president of Comag Marketing Group, the joint venture between the Hearst Corp. and Conde Nast Publications, and vice president of Communications Data Services, a data-management division of Hearst.
Reports to Cathleen Black
Mr. Loughlin succeeds Mark F. Miller, whose retirement Hearst announced Sept. 6, and reports to Cathleen Black, president of Hearst Magazines.
Mr. Loughlin will remain in his current post at TV Guide long enough to oversee the introduction of the dramatically revamped, full-size version of the magazine on Oct. 17. Since joining Gemstar-TV Guide International three years ago, he helped develop the new strategy for TV Guide and helped introduce Inside TV in April.
In a statement, Mr. Loughlin said he appreciated being part of the TV Guide Publishing Group “during this critical time.”
“I have great confidence that TV Guide magazine will play an even more vital role in viewers’ lives for years to come,” Mr. Loughlin said.
Posts at Primedia and Meredith
Before joining Gemstar-TV Guide International, Mr. Loughlin held executive posts at companies including Primedia, where he was president-CEO of the consumer media and magazine group, and Meredith Corp., where he was president of its TV broadcasting group.
Anthea Disney, executive chairwoman at Gemstar-TV Guide International, will oversee the publishing group until a successor to Mr. Loughlin is named.
