As College Football Ramps Up, Advertisers Get in the Game

Every weekday, we bring you the Ad Age/iSpot Hot Spots, new and trending TV commercials tracked by iSpot.tv, a company that catalogs, tags and measures activity around TV ads in real time. The New Releases here ran on TV for the first time yesterday. The Most Engaging ads are showing sustained social heat, ranked by SpotShare scores reflecting the percent of digital activity associated with each one over the past week. See the methodology here.
Among the new releases, EA Sports offers a first look at "NBA Live 16," while advertisers including AT&T and Dr Pepper get behind college football as the season ramps up. Larry Culpepper, better known as the Dr Pepper Guy, stars in the Dr Pepper spot, sharing his excitement for the season with anyone who will listen. And, in AT&T's ad, football veterans Jerry Rice, Daniel Kanell and Raghib Ismail face off in cheese-plate challenges and other odd competitions for a chance to watch the college football playoffs with Bo Jackson.
