Frederic Planchon began his career as an actor, but soon stepped into the role of assistant director before progressing to working as a second and first assistant director on 15 feature films in his native France. Planchon made his debut as a director in 1990 with the short film L'echange, which won the Prix de l'Image at the Festival de L'Image du Film. This launched his career as a music video and commercials director. To date, Planchon has directed over 50 commercials for clients such as Audi, Volkswagen, Visa, BMW, Peugeot, Land Rover, Mercedes, Air Touch, Jeep, Jaguar, Sony, Breath.com, Phillips and American Airlines. In the last 12 months, he has shot two campaigns in the U.K. for Pilsner and BMW, through Leagas Delaney and WCRS, respectively. In the U.S., where he's represented by CMP, Planchon has shot a three-spot campaign for Saturn through Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco.
