With $10 mil ad backing, Excite and Intuit's co-branded site goes live

Search engine Excite and Intuit took the wraps off their co-branded site today called Excite Business & Investing by Quicken.com. Prior to launch, the site had $10 million in upfront commitments from major online brokerage companies, said Brooks Fisher, VP-general manager, consumer Internet at Intuit.

The site integrates Quicken tools with Excite's searching capabilities, Mr. Fisher explained. For instance, enter a stock ticker symbol in the finance section, and an Excite search will gather historical data and news on that company. Another feature helps users prequalify for a mortgage online.

As part of the new site, iVillage is sponsoring the Armchair Millionaire community, which will be available later this month on Intuit's Quicken.com site; iVillage's Women's Network, and at www.ArmchairMillionaire.com. Armchair Millionaire is an interactive and educational community that encourages financial independence.
