4 in 10 adults are surfing the Web

Nearly four in 10 adults (39.7%) are using a computer to access the Internet or an online service, according to a survey taken by Chilton Research Services in October. In Chilton's April Internet survey, 29% of adults reported that they used the Internet. While the number of consumers who own PCs has grown only slightly in past six months to 45% of all adults surveyed, the study showed that more people are accessing the Net from work: Six months ago only 15% said they logged on from work; now more than 20% say they do.
