Despite the fact that it's been a while since Michel Gondry shot ads for the U.S. or the U.K. market, he still remains at the top of many a broadcast producer's wish list. His career began in Paris, where he studied graphic arts while also drumming in a band called Oui Oui. It was for this band that he made his first videos on 16mm and discovered his passion for directing and experimenting with animation and live action. Through Partizan, Gondry has directed seminal music videos for Bjork, the Chemical Brothers, the Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Foo Fighters and Radiohead. His commercials reel boasts classics such as: Levi's "Drugstore" and "Mermaids," Polaroid's "Resignation," Nike's "Long Run" and Smirnoff's "Smarienburg." His first feature, Human Nature, is in release and he is currently in preproduction on his second.
