As the Nation put it today, seven-time Tour de France winner and leader in the fight against cancer is "now facing a systematic disemboweling of his legacy as an athletic icon."

In what constitutes the most damning allegations yet against Mr. Armstrong -- and more broadly, the culture of the sport of cycling at large -- Mr. Armstrong's former teammate Tyler Hamilton said in an interview that aired on CBS's "60 Minutes" on Sunday that he obtained endurance-boosting drugs directly from Mr. Armstrong, and suggested that the International Cycling Union helped the star athlete cover up postive tests of the drugs. Reps for both Mr. Armstrong and the UCI have denied the claims.
