Nearly 40% of the U.S. population age 16 and older is online, according to a recent study from IntelliQuest Research, Austin, Texas. That's nearly 80 million adults, up from 62 million last year. The research firm expects that number to grow by 18.8 million this year, and predicts nearly 100 million adults will be accessing the Internet by 2000.
