862 non-union ad shoots cited

Published on .

Though the SAG/AFTRA commercial actors strike is now eight weeks old, with no end in sight, advertisers say there's plenty of TV production activity. Some 862 non-union shoots were completed between May 15 and June 15, according to the Joint Policy Committee of the Association of National Advertisers and the American Association of Advertising Agencies. The JPC didn't disclose 1999 results over the same period, but said if the rate of production continues, the industry will meet or exceed the number of commercial ads produced last year.
