Anheuser-Busch Cos. said it has been selected by the Commission on Presidential Debates as a national sponsor of this year's four presidential debates, as well as sole sponsor of the debate slated for Oct. 17 at Washington University in A-B's hometown of St. Louis. The brewing giant announced in October it would provide $550,000 to pay for expenses of the debate at Washington University. A-B said this is the first time it's been chosen to be a national sponsor. In 1992, it sponsored the presidential debate in St. Louis, and committed to sponsoring the St. Louis presidential debate in 1996 that eventually was canceled.
