"It's not a live simulcast in the traditional sense, but what's the point?" said Brian Woods, senior-VP marketing at Blockbuster Entertainment Group. "Given a choice, I'd rather watch it on TV."
The event will be televised on the UPN network. Still planned: live chats with selected entertainers from the Planet Hollywood backstage "green room" and hyperlinks with event sponsors, including Coca-Cola, AT&T, Sony Entertainment, Continental Airlines and the co-branded NationsBank Blockbuster Visa card. And in a reverse bit of interactivity, Blockbuster says a TV crew will film the online activity for live broadcast on the show.
