IT'S BEEN A GOOD YEAR FOR SINATRA, IF NOT FOR SOON-TO-TAKE-A-LICKING, INDIGLO-DRAWN FIREFLIES

Published on .

Timex Corp.-IndiGlo: "Firefly" ( Fallon McElligott; Industrial Light & Magic; :30). To the strains of Frank Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night," a man illuminates his watch, using Timex's luminescent IndiGlo technology. Its strong glow attracts a firefly that the man swats against the watch face, after which yet another firefly appears.

Closing voiceover is longtime newsman John Cameron Swayze, who for years appeared in Timex spots. His oft-repeated line: "Timex-it takes a licking and goes on ticking."

For this spot, the only one selected in the category, Industrial Light & Magic created a 6-inch-long insect with motorized wings similar to those used by Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts) in the film "Hook."
