Legendary CBS creative director Lou Dorfsman has a wall for sale. It's a 40-by-9-foot mural he made in the '70s for the CBS headquarters cafeteria -- hence the jumble of words and objects related to food. And like food, it didn't keep. In the mid-'90s, in dire need of restoration, the wall was about to be discarded when Dorfsman stepped in to save it. He originally wanted to donate the wall to Cooper Union, where he teaches; "I think it's a strong typographical showcase, with over 240 pieces of type," he says. But Cooper Union couldn't raise the restoration money, so buyers are being courted. "I'd like to see the wall where it can be enjoyed, like in a design school or public space," says Dorfsman. "Actually, it's perfect for a restaurant." Interested buyers -- the wall has been appraised at $500,000 -- should call Lynne Grasz at 212-873-5014.
