The Audit Bureau of Circulations, Schaumburg, Ill., announced on Sept. 17 that its international affilates in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain will begin auditing Web sites for clients with interactive media properties. Australia is also in talks with ABC about auditing practices and standards for Web brands, according to Michael Lavery, the company's president-managing director.

Domestically, the company will also work with Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' four magazine-branded Web sites, Car and Driver, Elle, Premiere and George. Hachette also signed Next Century Media in New Paltz, N.Y., for auditing and will work with Internet Profiles Corp. (I/PRO) for reporting on those audits, according to Paul DeBenedictis, the company's president-new media. Under the terms of the deal it's possible ABC will pick up additional Web auditing business as Hachette takes live additional titles from the 21 brands it maintains on America Online on the World Wide Web.
