ABC back on TW Cable as negotiations proceed

Published on .

ABC returns to millions of cable households today after Walt Disney Co., Burbank, Calif., and Time Warner, New York, reached an agreement that would temporarily restore the Disney-owned network until at least July 15 while negotiations proceed on a new rebroadcast rights deal. The agreement came shortly after a news conference in which Time Warner Cable Chairman-CEO Joseph Collins offered several options to Disney. While there had been some expectations that the loss of ABC would have significant impact in ratings, Nielsen Media Research reported that ratings for WABC's 11 p.m. news last night received a 16 share, up from a 12 share a week ago.
