Nielsen Media Research, New York, said it signed ABC and CBS to new four-year contracts . Financial terms were not disclosed. The contracts will run to mid-2002. NBC signed a four-year pact with Nielsen in July. Nielsen said negotiations are underway with Fox Television. Separately, Nielsen said CBS is the first TV network to sign up for Nielsen's new Desktop Access Research Tool data analysis system. The rival Smart TV audience measurement service, from Statistical Research Inc., is seeking financial backing for a startup in 2001.
