ABC makes sales cuts

ABC Television Network sales department has offered early retirement packages to certain sales personnel, according to network insiders. Furthermore, ABC may cut some sales positions. A top ABC sales executive said the company was examining costs throughout ABC as part of an annual company review. Though the network has been profitable, its prime-time ratings have been dropping in key demographic categories, and the company is expected to have to shell out considerable millions to the National Football League if it is to renew its contract for "ABC Monday Night Football"; the contract expires after this season.
