ABC's 'Ellen' pulls big ratings

"Ellen" drew huge numbers in overnight ratings by Nielsen Media Research. In metered markets, the hourlong Wednesday episode, in which Ellen revealed she was a lesbian, averaged a 26.5 rating and 37 share. Bayer Corp. and Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. were the only national advertisers not previously reported (AA, April 28).
