ABC's Shaw in line for top sales spot

of Mike Shaw to exec VP-national sales manager sets the stage for his eventual succession to the network's top ad sales position, now held by President-Sales and Marketing Marvin Goldsmith, according to a number of executives inside and outside the company. Mr. Shaw could not be reached, and Mr. Goldsmith referred calls to an ABC spokesman, who said he would not comment on any potential succession plans. Mr. Shaw, who succeeds Roger Sverdlik as ABC's no. 2 sales executive, comes to the network from syndicator Buena Vista Television, where he was exec VP-advertising sales.
