ABC's summer hit 'Millionaire' finishes No. 1 in Nielsen ratings

Published on .

ABC's Aug. 29 hour-long final episode of "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" hit No. 1 in the ratings for the week, according to Nielsen Media Research's Fast National service. The Sunday, Aug. 22, episode also was No. 1 in the ratings the previous week. Both programs were also No. 1 in the 18-to-49 year-old demographic. No contestant won $1 million during the series' two-week run, but one player won $500,000, the largest one-time cash prize ever given on a U.S. quiz show. The show returns for the November sweeps.
