NEC Technologies, Itasca, Ill., has narrowed its agency review to five contenders. Competing for the $15 million account are the incumbent team of Hampel/Stefanides, New York, which handles creative, and former sister agency Houston Herstek Favat, Boston, for media, as well as Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston; Hodskins Simone & Searls, Palo Alto, Calif.; Merkley Newman Harty, New York; and Rubin Postaer & Associates, Santa Monica, Calif. A decision is due in February.

Globalstar, New York and San Jose, Calif., a global mobile satellite telephone system, to Grey Advertising, New York, for its $5 million to $10 million advertising and PR account as first agency.
