Ackerley profits slip 1%

Published on .

Ackerley Group, Seattle, with interests including outdoor advertising and broadcasting, said its net income was down by less than 1% to $22.2 million in the second quarter, as net revenue fell 6% from a year ago to $71.4 million. "Same stores'' net revenue rose 4% to $25.7 for the outdoor media segment, even though Ackerley sold off its airport advertising operations in June 1998. In the company's broadcast segments, "same stores'' revenue slipped 3% to $14.1 million for TV, due primarily to the lack of political ad revenue in 1999, but rose 8% for radio to $6.9 million.
