SYDNEY -- AC Nielsen SRG, Asia Pacific's leading market research company, has merged its China and Hong Kong operations in a move which it says highlights the emergence of China as an important business market. AC Nielsen's three local businesses, SRG China, Survey Research Hongkong and SRG Research Services will become the AC Nielsen SRG China Group, although the brands will continue to operate separately within the group.

K.N. Tang, AC Nielsen SRG chairman, Asia Pacific, says the move would enable the group to deliver world standard, quality market research within the fast growing market. The trend, he says, is for clients "to have a combined management structure covering China and Hong Kong markets and they want a single point of contact". Louis Tong will become chairman of the new group. Other executives are Andrew Floyd, managing director, media services; Juling Ngai, managing director, retail services; Vivien Pau, managing director customized services; and Simon Yum, China joint venture executive director.
