Actor-advertisers talks enter 3rd day

Negotiations between the unions of striking commercial actors and representatives of the advertising industry continued Sept. 15. "If things keep moving, we will be talking next week,'' said Dan Jaffe, exec VP of the Association of National Advertisers. " The more that we are talking to each other, the more hopeful it is.'' This latest round of talks began Sept. 13 when federal mediators sat down with both sides in New York. After a long day, the two sides agreed to meet again on Sept. 14. "This will be the 'Perils of Pauline,' '' Mr. Jaffe said. "We are not going to know anything until the very last second. The parties are starting from positions very far apart, but I think everyone understands that we should come to a fair and reasonable settlement.''
