Actors union talks make little headway

Published on .

Talks between the unions of striking commercial actors and representatives for advertisers ended Sept. 18 with little progress. The two sides meet again Sept. 19. Greg Krizman, managing director of communications for the Screen Actors Guild, said negotiators for each side briefed newly arrived members of their respective teams who joined the talks. This latest round of talks began September 13 in an effort to end the four-and-a-half month old strike. Separately, SAG and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists found three members of each of their respective unions guilty of breaking with union rules by participating in the production of TV commercials since the strike began May 1. No names were disclosed. Mr. Krizman said all six will be subject to fines and suspensions.
