[new york] Nicholas J. Ferrari was promoted to general manager-business development for the Ad Age Group, a new post. He will oversee custom publishing, association relationships, database businesses and reprints.

Mr. Ferrari, 47, was most recently director of marketing and communications, and will lead the search for his successor in that role. He reports to Publisher Jill Manee.

"The Ad Age Group's continued focus on new business is a significant initiative for us," said Ms. Manee. "Nick's promotion to oversee this new division will assure the strategic direction and resources to continue our strong growth in this area."

In a separate move, Jim Whelan, 33, was promoted to eastern region sales manager, from sales representative. He will report to Advertising Director
