As New York bureau chief, Ms. Nayyar, 30, will oversee Ad Age's largest news-gathering bureau. As senior editor, she will be involved in news decisions at the national level.
A graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Ms. Nayyar was most recently a free-lance reporter for Newsweek. She was a full-time reporter and researcher at Newsweek from 1993 to 1996, when she left to join Money as a writer-reporter.
Before joining Newsweek in 1993, she covered marketing as a reporter for Brandweek.
"Seema is smart, energetic and competitive, and has impeccable journalistic credentials," said Scott Donaton, executive editor, Advertising Age. "We look forward to adding her talents to our lineup."
Ms. Nayyar succeeds Pat Sloan, who joined DDB Needham Worldwide earlier this summer as senior VP-corporate director of public affairs.
