AD COUNCIL NAMES KROLL CHAIRMAN

Alex Kroll, chairman emeritus of Young & Rubicam, was named chairman of the Advertising Council last week, succeeding Philip Guarascio, VP-general manager of marketing and advertising for General Motors Corp.'s North American Operations.

Also, the Ad Council named Jim Tenny, senior VP-group account director at Jerry & Ketchum, New York, recipient of the annual G.D. Crain Award.

Mr. Tenny won for his work on the Coalition on Donation's organ and tissue donation campaign to encourage family discussion about organ and tissue donation. Its tag line: "Share your life, share your decision."

Three agencies were given Silver Bells for Ad Council campaigns. J. Walter Thompson USA was honored for 10 years of work for the American Red Cross, and awards for five years of service were given to Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising for its Points of Light Foundation campaigns and Vidal, Reynardus & Moya for its crime prevention campaigns.
