Media stocks rise: The week started with encouraging unemployment numbers, but more accounting snafus and bad news on consumer confidence put out any hopes of a rally. Of AdMarket stocks, 36 were up, 13 were down and Grey Global Group was unchanged.

Advertising and media stocks edged higher, as Wall Street continues to factor in a second-half recovery. Havas Advertising and Publicis Groupe edged higher after announcing year-end billings numbers, while News Corp. was punished after it announced a large charge to cover losses from sports programming (see story at right).
