(May 16, 2001) -- Advance Publication's new Golf Digest Cos. today announced it reached an agreement with Meredith Corp. to purchase that company's golf-related title, Golf for Women.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Advance formed Golf Digest Cos. when it finalized its acquisition of four golfing magazines -- Golf Digest, Golf World, Golf Digest Woman and Golf World Business -- plus several related businesses from the New York Times Co. in April for about $435 million.

Through April of this year, ad pages for Golf for Women were down 10.7% to 108.7. -- Jon Fine
