Advertising.com slashes 25 percent of work force

Published on .

Advertising.com, an ad mangement company based in Baltimore, is reducing its work force 25 percent by cutting 72 employees, a reduction the company says is a "proactive step" to allow it to achieve profitability much sooner than otherwise would be the case. "We were staffed at a level where the market was six months ago, not where it is today," said an Advertising.com spokesman. The staff restructuring, coupled with a second year of consistent revenue growth and more than $50 million in funding secured in 2000 from strategic partners, will help the company grow its market position, said the company in prepared statements.
