The South and West will account for 88% of U.S. population growth from 2000 to 2030, according to new Census Bureau estimates. Three states-Florida, California, Texas-will account for 46% of population growth.
A BUMPY RIDE: The AdMarket 50and the broader market improved slightly this week, though the gains of two of the big auto manufacturers were not without their speed bumps. For the week, 34 AdMarket stocks were up, one was flat, and 15 posted declines.
Billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian's announcement that he wanted to increase his stake in General Motors Corp. fueled the stock's largest one-day percentage gain in more than 40 years. Primedia was the big loser of the week after reporting first-quarter revenue was down 0.7% from the same period last year.
