The U.S. AdMarket1 employed 1.57 million people in March, up 400 jobs from February and tracking with tepid average growth for the past year.
Since March '05, the AdMarket has added 4,500 jobs, with gains in seven of the past 12 months. March employment at public relations agencies reached a four-year high of 48,900. That's still well below the sector's job peak of 56,400 in Dec. 2000, also the peak for overall AdMarket employment.
Focus on: PRIMEDIA (PRM)
Primedia saw its long-depressed stock plunge in October after it announced the exit of CEO Kelly Conlin, issued a profit warning and said it might split into two ventures (enthusiast media and education; consumer guides). PRM is down 95% from its peak but can be a profitable, if volatile, issue for traders. In the 30 weeks since the announcement, it's been an AdMarket 50 top 5 or bottom 5 percentage mover 18 weeks-11 down, seven up.

GM reached its highest level since October on analyst upgrades. Omnicom hit its top price since '02; IPG traded within 4¢ of its lowest point since '03.
