AFL-CIO drops pro-Clinton ad plan

Plans to run ads supporting President Clinton appeared to fall apart today as the AFL-CIO pulled out of what had been anticipated as a joint campaign with People for the American Way. The AFL-CIO said that, while it had talked about ads, the discussions had been very preliminary and that it has since chosen to use any spending to accent legislative races.
