Agencies battle for St George's $16m

Published on .

SYDNEY -- St George Bank here has invited eight agencies to pitch for its $16m-plus account following its $2.2bn merger with Advance Bank two months ago. Included is St George incumbent, Euro RSCG Partnership, Sydney.

In a surprise move, Clemenger BBDO here, which acquired Advance incumbent agency McCarthy Omon Spencer in May, has declined to pitch, claiming unexpected conflicts. Clemenger had been expected to seek the banks' business vigorously.

Those pitching, including Euro RSCG, are believed to be Ogilvy & Mather, DDB, Whybin Lawrence TBWA, Grey Advertising, Brown Melhuish Fishlock and Alexander Bird Kulmar Porra & Friends, all of Sydney.
