Agency execs gather

Published on .

An estimated 400 advertising agency leaders and guests gathered at Indian Wells, Calif., Wednesday afternoon to open the annual meeting of the American Association of Advertising Agencies. Speakers this year include outgoing Four A's Chairman Burt Manning, chairman-CEO of J. Walter Thompson Co., New York; Don Ohlmeyer, president of NBC-West Coast; and George Fisher, CEO, Eastman Kodak Co.

Subjects on the agenda include new technology, diversity in hiring and how to evaluate an agency's worth. "The membership will be in a good frame of mind," coming off a year of strong gains in billings and revenue, predicted O. Burtch Drake, Four A's president-CEO.

David Bell, chairman-CEO of Bozell Worldwide, New York, will be installed as the new chairman of the association during the three-day gathering.
