1933 Campbell Mithun is launched by Ralph Campbell and Ray Mithun, two veterans of the Minneapolis office of Batten Barton Durstine & Osborne. Clients during its early decades included Hamm's Beer (it created the "From the land of sky-blue waters" slogan and the Hamm's bear), Northwest Orient Airlines and Pillsbury Co.

1968 The agency gains General Mills-now its biggest account-after Pillsbury moved its work.

1979 Ted Bates & Co. buys Campbell Mithun

1986 Bates is acquired by Saatchi & Saatchi

1988 Saatchi melds Campbell Mithun with William Esty Co., creating Campbell Mithun Esty.

1995 Campbell Mithun buys itself back with financial support from Interpublic Group of Cos.

2000 The agency drops Esty from its name.
