Alta Vista CEO resigns

Published on .

Ilene Lang, CEO of Digital Equipment Corp.'s Alta Vista Software Unit - which runs the namesake search engine, has resigned, an Alta Vista spokesman confirmed Sept. 18.

Responding to a Wall Street Journal report, which said Ms. Lang quit because Digital had withdrawn an initial public offering for the software unit, the spokesman responded ``no comment.'' He said she resigned to pursue other interests.

Last year Digital had announced plans to sell off its 20% stake in Alta Vista, but rescinded the IPO in June as part of a restructuring.
