CMGI-owned search engine AltaVista said March 19 that it was adding news search functions to its services. The company is working with Moreover, a Web intelligence company, to allow the service to search out online news, giving visitors the opportunity of tracking breaking news by using the AltaVista service. The new service promises to find news within 15 minutes of its posting to the Web. Moreover is backed by venture capitalists including Reuters Venture Capital and Wit SoundView Ventures.
