Amazon.com named five VPs to its management team: Rick Ayre, VP-executive editor from executive editor of technology at PC Week; Mark Breier, VP-marketing from VP-marketing at Cinnabon World Famous Cinnamon Rolls; Joy Covey, chief financial officer from the same title at Digidesign; Oswaldo Dueas, VP-operations from a manager at Federal Express; and Scott Lipsky, VP-business expansion from chief information officer of the superstore and college bookstore divisions of Barnes & Noble. Competitors Barnes & Noble and Borders are both readying their own plans to launch retail sites on the Web.
